India and Japan deepen their Special Strategic and Global Partnership as PM Narendra Modi and Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi discuss defence cooperation, economic security, and Indo-Pacific stability in New Delhi.

• Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Japan’s Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi held high-level bilateral talks at Hyderabad House in New Delhi to strengthen India-Japan Special Strategic and Global Partnership.
• The Japanese Prime Minister was accorded a ceremonial welcome and Guard of Honour at Rashtrapati Bhavan before meeting PM Modi and senior Indian Cabinet ministers.
• External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, and senior officials from both countries participated in the discussions.
• The Ministry of External Affairs described the partnership as being anchored in trust, shared values, and strategic convergence between India and Japan.
• The visit marks PM Takaichi’s first official trip to India since assuming office and comes ahead of the 16th India-Japan Annual Summit.
• The summit will review the full spectrum of bilateral cooperation including defence, trade, investment, innovation, and regional security issues.
• PM Takaichi emphasized strengthening economic security cooperation and boosting investment and innovation ties between businesses of both countries.
• Both leaders are expected to focus on Indo-Pacific stability and cooperation within the Quad framework to ensure a free and open regional order.
