Severe flooding continues to disrupt normal life in Assam’s Golaghat district after the Dhansiri River crossed the danger mark, inundating several villages and forcing dozens of families to move to relief camps as authorities intensify rescue and relief operations.

• Floodwaters submerged large parts of Golaghat district after the Dhansiri and Doyang rivers swelled, with the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) confirming that the Dhansiri is flowing above the danger mark.
• Authorities said the opening of four gates of the Doyang Hydroelectric Project further increased water levels, inundating villages across Bokakhat, Golaghat and Khumtai Assembly constituencies.

• Relief camps have been established to shelter displaced families, with local administration and disaster response teams monitoring the situation and providing assistance to affected residents.
• Flood victim Jyoti Gogoi said nearly 30 families from her village had taken shelter at the relief camp, adding that district officials visited the camp to assess the situation.
• Authorities have urged residents living near riverbanks and low-lying areas to remain alert as rescue, relief and monitoring operations continue amid persistently high river levels.
