The Government of India has launched the Viksit Bharat G-Ram G Act to enhance rural employment, strengthen livelihood security, empower Gram Sabhas, and accelerate village infrastructure development nationwide.

• Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan launched the nationwide Viksit Bharat G-Ram G Act from Mukkavaripalli village in Andhra Pradesh alongside Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan.
• The new rural employment programme guarantees 125 days of wage employment annually for every eligible rural household, replacing the earlier 100-day employment provision under the previous framework.
• Eligible adults willing to undertake unskilled manual work will receive employment, while unemployment allowance will continue if work is not provided within the prescribed period.
• The Central Government has allocated over ₹95,000 crore during the first year, with total expenditure including state contributions expected to reach approximately ₹1.51 lakh crore.
• The government plans to invest nearly ₹7.5 lakh crore over the coming years, benefiting around 2.86 lakh Gram Panchayats through employment generation and rural infrastructure development.
• Gram Sabhas and Gram Panchayats will receive greater authority to identify and prioritise local development projects, including roads, irrigation facilities, schools, healthcare centres, ponds, and agricultural infrastructure.
• Andhra Pradesh has received a special allocation of ₹7,707 crore under the programme, along with approval for 74,212 PMAY-G houses and 146 rural roads and 19 bridges under PMGSY-IV.
• The initiative aims to promote inclusive rural development by combining employment generation, decentralised planning, improved infrastructure, digital governance, and stronger community participation across India’s villages.
