- SEMICON India 2026 will be inaugurated at Yashobhoomi, Dwarka, on September 17, under the theme “Silicon to Systems: Building the Ecosystem.”
- India’s electronics production increased from around Rs. 1.9 lakh crore in 2014-15 to Rs. 13.11 lakh crore in 2025-26.
- Electronics exports expanded from Rs. 38,000 crore to Rs. 4.24 lakh crore during the same period, reflecting stronger manufacturing capabilities.
- Mobile phone production rose from Rs. 18,000 crore to Rs. 6.27 lakh crore, with domestic manufacturing reaching 99.2 percent.
- The Semicon India Programme launched in 2021 with Rs. 76,000 crore allocation, followed by Programme 2.0 in July 2026.
- Twelve semiconductor projects across six states have received approval, involving investment commitments exceeding Rs. 1.64 lakh crore, with three facilities already producing commercially.
- India has joined the Pax Silica coalition to strengthen silicon supply chains, while SEMICON India 2026 will feature over 600 exhibitors.
- The event will include more than 300 international companies and over 150 speakers, highlighting opportunities across semiconductor technology and manufacturing.
- The expanded semiconductor programme covers chip design, equipment, fabrication, packaging, research and development, and talent development across India’s technology ecosystem.
