The India Meteorological Department has forecast widespread monsoon rainfall across several states, with heavy to extremely heavy showers, thunderstorms, and strong winds expected over the coming days.

• The India Meteorological Department has predicted widespread rainfall across Northwest, Central, West Coast, and Northeast India as the southwest monsoon remains active and continues advancing across the country.
• On July 8, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim are likely to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall with isolated extremely heavy showers, while several other states are also expected to witness intense rainfall.
• Heavy to very heavy rainfall has also been forecast for Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya, Coastal Karnataka, Gujarat, Konkan and Goa, Madhya Pradesh, Madhya Maharashtra, East Rajasthan, and South Interior Karnataka.
• Heavy rainfall is expected in Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Bihar, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Kerala, West Uttar Pradesh, Vidarbha, Saurashtra and Kutch, and the northeastern states, prompting weather advisories.
• The weather department has also warned of thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds reaching 40–60 kmph across parts of peninsular, central, western, and northeastern India.
• The southwest monsoon has further advanced into the remaining parts of Gujarat and additional areas of Rajasthan and Haryana, with favourable conditions for further progress across northwest India.
• Heavy rainfall has already disrupted normal life in several regions, including Gurugram, where a section of National Highway-48 collapsed, and Uttarakhand, where landslides affected traffic on the Yamunotri National Highway.
• The IMD has advised residents to monitor weather updates, avoid waterlogged areas, check traffic advisories before travelling, and remain alert for flooding, landslides, poor visibility, and transport disruptions.
