India has successfully conducted the flight test of the Pinaka Long Range Guided Rocket (LRGR), demonstrating high-precision strike capability and marking another milestone in the country’s indigenous defence technology development.

• The Defence Research and Development Organisation successfully conducted the flight test of the Pinaka Long Range Guided Rocket on July 8, 2026, at the Integrated Test Range in Chandipur, Odisha.
• The rocket was successfully tested for a user-defined minimum range of 60 kilometres and accurately followed its planned flight path before striking the designated target with exceptional precision.
• During the trial, the Pinaka Long Range Guided Rocket successfully executed all planned in-flight manoeuvres while advanced tracking systems continuously monitored its performance throughout the mission.
• The rocket has been developed by the Armament Research and Development Establishment in collaboration with the High Energy Materials Research Laboratory, with technical support from the Defence Research and Development Laboratory and Research Centre Imarat.
• The flight trial was coordinated by the Integrated Test Range and the Proof and Experimental Establishment, ensuring comprehensive evaluation of the rocket’s operational performance.
• The successful launch from the existing Pinaka launcher demonstrated the platform’s capability to operate different variants of the Pinaka rocket system without requiring separate launch infrastructure.
• Defence Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated the Defence Research and Development Organisation, the Indian Army, and industry partners, describing the successful test as a major milestone for India’s indigenous long-range guided rocket programme.
