India inaugurated its first SME-led semiconductor manufacturing facility in Rajasthan, strengthening domestic chip production, electronics exports and semiconductor self-reliance ambitions.

- Sahasra Semiconductors inaugurated India’s first SME-led semiconductor chip manufacturing facility at Bhiwadi in Rajasthan under the semiconductor manufacturing expansion initiative.
- The Semiconductor ATMP and OSAT facility was virtually inaugurated by Ashwini Vaishnaw in the presence of Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma.
- The semiconductor manufacturing unit has been developed with an investment exceeding ₹150 crore under the SPECS scheme of the Electronics Ministry.
- Spread across 57,000 square feet, the facility includes advanced Class 10K and 100K cleanrooms for semiconductor packaging and electronics production.
- The plant will manufacture and package memory chips, LED driver ICs, eSIMs, RFID products and flash storage semiconductor components.
- The facility currently has an annual production capacity of 60 million semiconductor units with expansion plans targeting 400-600 million units annually.
- More than 60 percent of the semiconductor products manufactured at the facility are already being exported to global international markets.
- Rajasthan introduced its Semiconductor Policy in March 2026 as part of efforts to develop the region into a major electronics manufacturing hub.
