India has launched the Arunachal Kiwi Mission to strengthen organic kiwi exports, cold storage infrastructure, branding, farmer incomes, and premium global market access for Arunachal Pradesh.

- Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region has launched the ₹167 crore Arunachal Kiwi Mission to build a globally competitive organic kiwi ecosystem in India.
- Jyotiraditya Scindia officially launched the mission under the broader Viksit North East vision focused on regional economic transformation and agricultural value-chain development.
- Arunachal Pradesh currently produces more than 50% of India’s kiwi output, with annual production estimated at nearly 7,050 metric tonnes.
- The mission aims to establish six integrated post-harvest management hubs across Ziro Valley, Dirang, Kalaktang, Shi Yomi, and Dibang Valley to improve market connectivity.
- The initiative focuses on creating 2,000 metric tonnes of cold-chain capacity to reduce distress sales and increase kiwi shelf life for export-oriented markets.
- Multiple institutions including National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development, Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority and ICAR-CITH are supporting the integrated value-chain programme.
- The premium branding campaign ‘Arunachal Organic Kiwi’ will promote QR-enabled traceable packaging, export integration, international trade fair participation, and single-origin organic branding strategies.
- The mission is expected to increase farmer incomes by four to six times while promoting agri-tourism, kiwi-based startups, sustainable farming, and export-driven horticulture growth in Northeast India.
