• The meeting is being organised under the theme “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability (BRICS)”, while the BRICS Statistics Track focuses on “Quality Statistics as Driver of Change.”
• Senior statistical representatives from Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Egypt, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Iran, and the United Arab Emirates are participating in the discussions.
• According to the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI), the meeting aims to strengthen cooperation in official statistics, statistical innovation, data dissemination, and knowledge sharing among participating countries.
• Delegates will review progress on the Joint Statistical Publication (JSP) 2026 and Snapshot BRICS JSP 2026, continuing a collaborative initiative that has provided harmonised statistical data since 2010.
• The meeting will focus on improving macroeconomic and sectoral statistics, enhancing data quality, promoting harmonisation, and strengthening accessibility for policymakers, researchers, and the public.
• Two special side events will be organised on “Unlocking the Potential of Administrative Data” and “AI Readiness in the Evolving Data Ecosystem”, highlighting the growing role of artificial intelligence in official statistics.
• The conference is expected to deepen international cooperation, modernise national statistical systems, and promote the use of technology-driven, people-centric, and evidence-based statistical frameworks across BRICS countries.
