India and Bhutan advanced bilateral cooperation through major projects in hydropower, healthcare and connectivity during the official visit.

• External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Bhutanese Foreign Affairs Minister DN Dhungyel jointly marked 3 major bilateral infrastructure projects during the official visit.
• The ministers laid the foundation stone for the 500-kilowatt Lunana Hydropower Project in Gasa to expand electricity access.
• The Lunana project aims to provide electricity to Bhutan’s remaining unelectrified settlements and strengthen longstanding energy cooperation between both countries.
• The 65-bed Gyaltsuen Jetsun Pema Mother and Child Hospital was inaugurated in Mongar to strengthen specialised maternal and child healthcare.
• The hospital is designed to improve access to quality healthcare services for communities across eastern Bhutan.
• The 80-metre Jaganathan Bridge was inaugurated in Samdrup Jongkhar to improve connectivity between Trashigang and Samdrup Jongkhar.
• The bridge was constructed by Project Dantak under the Bhutan India Friendship framework to strengthen regional infrastructure connectivity.
• The three projects cover energy, healthcare and infrastructure development, reflecting the broad-based nature of India Bhutan development cooperation.
• India and Bhutan have maintained longstanding development and energy cooperation, with bilateral infrastructure projects supporting economic and social development.
• Jaishankar’s three-day visit from September 16 to 18 includes a Royal Audience with the King and a meeting with Bhutan’s Prime Minister.
