- The demonstration utilized institute-developed hatchery seed along with BSCrabPlus, a scientifically formulated pelleted feed designed specifically for the species.
- ICAR-CIBA standardized a comprehensive technology package covering hatchery seed production, nursery rearing techniques and grow-out farming management practices.
- The demonstration trial was conducted at the Muttukadu Experimental Station in Chennai under controlled aquaculture production conditions.
- The project achieved a productivity of 1,100 kilograms per hectare after a 105-day culture period, demonstrating strong commercial viability.
- Marketable crabs attained an average body weight of 150 grams and secured market prices of approximately ₹500 per kilogram.
- Revenue of ₹1,22,500 was transferred to a self-help group in Chengalpattu district, supporting livelihood generation through the Scheduled Caste Sub-Plan programme.
