The Defence Ministry has released its sixth Positive Indigenisation List covering 405 defence items, creating new opportunities for domestic manufacturing and investment.

- The Department of Defence Production notified the sixth Positive Indigenisation List on August 18, 2026, covering 405 defence-related items.
- The list is estimated to create domestic business opportunities worth Rs 3,070 crore and support India’s defence manufacturing capabilities.
- Of the 405 items, 389 are associated with Defence Public Sector Undertakings, while 16 items are linked to the Indian Coast Guard.
- The list includes components for the Advanced Light Helicopter, Light Utility Helicopter, Su-30MKI, Tejas, T-72 and T-90 platforms.
- It also covers components related to Konkurs-M, Invar and Medium Range Surface-to-Air Missile systems used by Indian defence forces.
- Defence electronics included in the list cover radar, sonar and satellite communication systems, along with High Explosive Anti-Tank ammunition.
- The SRIJAN Defence Portal provides domestic manufacturers and MSMEs with item-wise indigenisation details, timelines and potential procurement opportunities.
- More than 15,700 defence items have been indigenised so far, with import substitution estimated at around Rs 9,000 crore over five years.
