The Union Cabinet has approved a ₹3,706 crore joint venture between HCL and Foxconn to build a semiconductor plant in Jewar, Uttar Pradesh. Part of the India Semiconductor Mission, the plant will focus on chip assembly and packaging. It is expected to start production in 2027 and create 2,000 jobs, meeting up to 40% of India’s chip demand.
