India’s Vice-President is the second-highest constitutional authority. As per Articles 63–73, the role, powers, and election process are defined. He serves for five years and also acts as the Rajya Sabha Chairman. He can act as President if that office is vacant. The Constitution lays out procedures for election, resignation, and removal.
