On June 21, 2025, the Union government announced a Centre of Excellence (CoE) to tackle growing human-wildlife conflicts. Set up at WII–SACON, the centre will use AI, train personnel, and promote public awareness. The move follows rising deaths due to tiger and elephant attacks in multiple states. The initiative builds on earlier advisories and aims at long-term, tech-driven, and community-inclusive solutions.
