Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated India’s first Namo Bharat Regional Rapid Transit System and dedicated the entire 82-km Delhi–Meerut corridor to the nation.

- The Prime Minister flagged off the Namo Bharat Train and Meerut Metro from Shatabdi Nagar station, later interacting with students and passengers during the metro ride.
- The 82-kilometre corridor connects Delhi with major urban centres including Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Modinagar and Meerut, significantly reducing travel time.
- Designed for a maximum speed of 180 km per hour, Namo Bharat is India’s first Regional Rapid Transit System.
- Meerut Metro services between Meerut South and Modipuram were also launched, operating on the same infrastructure as Namo Bharat.
- Meerut Metro, with an operational speed of around 120 kilometres per hour, completes the full stretch in approximately 30 minutes.
- Projects worth about ₹12,930 crore were inaugurated and dedicated, aimed at accelerating development in Uttar Pradesh.
- The Prime Minister highlighted that metro services have expanded from five cities before 2014 to over twenty-five cities today.
- Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath stated that the projects will significantly benefit the state’s citizens and boost economic growth.
