After a Cabinet meeting in Shimla and a Finance Department presentation, the Chief Minister said ending RDG is not merely governmental concern but a public rights issue.
-
He emphasized that withdrawal of the Revenue Deficit Grant would make it increasingly difficult for the state government to safeguard the legitimate rights and welfare of citizens.
-
The Chief Minister noted that although RDG has been discontinued for 17 states, Himachal Pradesh faces the most severe financial consequences among them.
-
He highlighted that 12.7 percent of Himachal Pradesh’s total budget is supported by RDG, making it the second-highest recipient of the grant nationally.
-
CM Sukhu stated that the state government is prepared to meet the Prime Minister along with BJP MPs and MLAs to seek resolution.
-
He further warned that if discussions fail to produce a solution, the state government will approach the court to challenge the decision.
