- The Centre has unveiled the “Viksit Bharat GRAMG” framework with an allocation exceeding ₹1.25 lakh crore, scheduled to come into effect from July 1, 2026.
- The initiative aims to strengthen rural employment generation, accelerate development activities, and create durable community assets across villages through coordinated implementation.
- Under MGNREGA, ₹30,000 crore has already been allocated, while an interim ₹95,692.31 crore has been released to States and Union Territories for programme execution.
- Nearly 2.8 lakh Gram Panchayats are expected to benefit through locally identified development projects designed to improve livelihoods and strengthen rural infrastructure.
- States have been encouraged to provide advance project approvals and ensure timely wage payments so that employment opportunities continue without disruption from July 1.
- The programme also highlights progress in Direct Benefit Transfer, e-KYC, face authentication, and digital governance systems to improve transparency and administrative efficiency.
- Significant allocations have been earmarked for Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, Bihar, and Madhya Pradesh to support implementation.
- The initiative forms an important part of the Viksit Bharat 2047 vision by promoting sustainable rural infrastructure, inclusive economic growth, and long-term village development.
