The Aligarh Movement, led by Syed Ahmad Khan (1817–1899), was a major socio-religious reform among Indian Muslims. It aimed to promote Western education, modern thinking, and social reforms while preserving Islamic identity. Syed Ahmad Khan founded the Mohammedan Anglo-Oriental College in Aligarh in 1875, which later became Aligarh Muslim University.
