The India Meteorological Department (IMD) confirmed that India received 836.2 mm of rainfall during June–September 2025, about 7–8% above the normal 778.6 mm. This marks the second consecutive year of surplus rains. Heavy downpours in September and early onset drove the increase, but extreme weather caused severe floods, landslides, and destruction.
