They described it as a “proof of friendship” and a testament to the strong bilateral ties between India and Mauritius.

PM Modi was also honored with the Grand Commander of the Order of the Star and Key of the Indian Ocean award.
This award is only conferred on a select few foreign dignitaries, with Nelson Mandela being one of the past recipients.
Gunness welcomed Modi’s decision to extend OCI cards to the seventh generation of the Indian diaspora in Mauritius.
Sarita Boodhoo, a Bhojpuri Union Chairperson in Mauritius, expressed happiness over Modi’s blessings and praised his initiative for the younger generation to benefit from OCI cards.
PM Modi’s visit to Mauritius solidified ties in trade, commerce, and the blue economy, strengthening India-Mauritius bonds.
PM Modi became the first Indian to receive the prestigious Grand Commander award from Mauritius, marking his 21st international honor.
