- The G20 Foreign Ministers' Meeting was held in Atlanta on October 30 and 31, 2026, chaired by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
- The meeting focused on easing energy supply chains and advancing cooperation on shared economic and security challenges.
- External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar attended the meeting after the Ministry of External Affairs announced his participation.
- The Quad foreign ministers of the US, India, Japan and Australia met on the sidelines on October 31.
- It was the third Quad foreign ministers' meeting this year, after earlier meetings in New Delhi in May and in Manila.
- Rubio, Jaishankar, Japan's Toshimitsu Motegi and Australia's Penny Wong took part and issued a joint statement.
- The statement expressed grave concern over economic coercion, including arbitrary export restrictions, and over non-market policies that cause overcapacity.
- The statement did not name China, and Rubio said the Quad is not an anti-China coalition while noting that the behaviour came repeatedly from one country.
- The agenda covered supply chains, critical minerals, maritime cooperation and next-generation technologies.
- The US committed $10 million to support facilities in India that recover critical minerals from electronic waste.
- The Quad Critical Minerals Initiative was launched in July 2025, and a framework under it was announced at the May 2026 meeting in New Delhi.
- The Atlanta talks are expected to lay groundwork for a Quad leaders' summit and for the G20 Leaders' Summit in Miami on December 14 and 15, while Jaishankar moves on to the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Antigua and Barbuda from November 1 to 4.
