• Union Education Minister Pralhad Joshi launched the registration portal for Kashi Tamil Sangamam 5.0 on October 22, 2026.
• The fifth edition will be held from November 28 to December 12, 2026.
• Its theme is "Thirukkural Payilvom – Thirukkural Abhyas Karen".
• The theme focuses on learning the ethical and moral teachings of the Thirukkural, the classical Tamil text.
• About 1,400 participants from Tamil Nadu, in seven groups of roughly 200 each, will take part.
• The eight-day programme for each group covers Varanasi, Prayagraj and Ayodhya.
• A nationwide student engagement programme on the Thirukkural will run across 1,000 higher education institutions.
• The programme is organised by the Ministry of Education with IIT Madras, Banaras Hindu University and the Central Institute of Classical Tamil.
• Registration is open until November 13, 2026.
