- Union Minister of State Jitendra Singh launched the web portal for Special Campaign 6 on September 16, 2026.
- The portal is meant to monitor the campaign's progress, which aims to institutionalise Swachhata in all government offices.
- The launch took place at a meeting of nodal officers from all 84 ministries and departments of the Government of India.
- The Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG) has coordinated these annual special campaigns as the nodal department since 2021.
- Special Campaign 6 will run from October 2 to October 31, 2026, after a preparatory phase from September 16 to 30.
- The campaign focuses on cleanliness, reducing pendency and managing e-waste across government offices.
- It covers ministries and departments as well as their attached, subordinate and autonomous bodies, including field offices.
- Jitendra Singh said the Swachhata drive begun in 2014 has grown from a cleanliness initiative into a whole-of-government, whole-of-nation movement.
- He said scrap disposal under the campaign has so far earned about ₹5,000 crore for the government.
- The stated wider aim is to make cleanliness and efficient records management a permanent part of government functioning.
