A fast-moving wildfire in Nevada has destroyed dozens of homes, injured seven people and forced thousands to evacuate areas around Reno.

• The Hawk Fire in Nevada broke out on Saturday and rapidly spread from the Sierra foothills towards Reno near the Nevada-California border.
• The wildfire had burned more than 15,000 acres, covering about 60.7 square kilometres, and was 27% contained as of Monday.
• At least 32 homes were destroyed and six others damaged as strong winds helped the wildfire spread across affected communities.
• Four civilians and three firefighters suffered injuries during the wildfire, according to Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District officials.
• Around 90,000 residents were living in areas covered by evacuation orders and warnings as authorities continued monitoring the dangerous wildfire.
• Improved conditions allowed officials to reduce evacuation orders in some communities from “Evacuate Now” to “Get Set to Evacuate”.
