• Hyderabad is hosting the second meeting of the BRICS Anti-Corruption Working Group and the BRICS Expert Network on Asset Recovery on 4–5 August 2026 under India’s BRICS Presidency 2026.
• The meetings are being organised by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) and are expected to bring together nearly 40 delegates representing all 11 BRICS member countries.
• The BRICS Anti-Corruption Working Group serves as a collaborative platform for member nations to strengthen anti-corruption policies, improve governance, and enhance institutional cooperation.
• The BRICS Expert Network on Asset Recovery focuses on tracing, freezing, confiscating, and repatriating illicit financial assets while strengthening international legal cooperation against cross-border corruption.
• Delegates will deliberate on key issues including asset recovery mechanisms, illicit financial flows, transparency, accountability, international cooperation, and governance reforms to combat corruption effectively.
• A special side event titled “Ethical Governance through Innovation and Tech-Driven Systems” will highlight digital governance, technology-enabled public procurement, and citizen-centric transparency initiatives.
• The meetings will be inaugurated by DoPT Secretary Rachna Shah, while the Telangana government has coordinated comprehensive arrangements covering security, transport, accommodation, and medical support.
• As the BRICS Chair for 2026, India is using the platform to promote stronger international cooperation, transparent governance, institutional integrity, and effective anti-corruption frameworks among emerging economies.
