• The India Meteorological Department has predicted enhanced rainfall across East and Northeast India, East Uttar Pradesh, and the Western Himalayan region due to a well-marked low-pressure system.
• Odisha has been placed under a red alert as isolated extremely heavy rainfall is expected, with the weather system likely to move across north Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal.
• Heavy to very heavy rainfall has been forecast for Odisha, Bihar, Jharkhand, Gangetic West Bengal, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, and several northeastern states during the coming days.
• Increasing rainfall activity is also expected across Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh from July 18 under the influence of a western disturbance.
• Central India, including Chhattisgarh, East Madhya Pradesh, and Vidarbha, is likely to receive heavy rainfall, while Konkan, Goa, and parts of Maharashtra may witness widespread showers.
• Rainfall over South Peninsular India is expected to remain below normal, although isolated showers are likely across Kerala, Karnataka, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu.
• The weather department has warned fishermen against venturing into the Bay of Bengal and parts of the Arabian Sea due to rough sea conditions during the advisory period.
• IMD has cautioned that extremely heavy rainfall could trigger flooding, waterlogging, landslides, rising river levels, traffic disruptions, and crop damage, urging residents and farmers to take necessary precautions.
