• Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off India’s first hydrogen fuel cell-powered train between Jind and Sonipat, marking a significant milestone in the country’s transition toward clean and sustainable railway transportation.
• The indigenously developed 10-coach hydrogen-powered train operates on a 90-kilometre route, generates electricity through hydrogen fuel cells, and produces only water vapour with zero carbon emissions.
• Equipped with a powerful 3,200 HP propulsion system, the train ranks among the world’s longest and most powerful hydrogen-powered passenger trains, strengthening India’s green mobility ambitions.
• Alongside the railway launch, development projects worth around ₹14,700 crore were inaugurated and foundation stones laid, covering highways, healthcare, railway infrastructure, and cultural initiatives across Haryana.
• National Highway projects worth over ₹12,470 crore include the Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway, Ambala-Kala Amb Highway, Jind-Gohana Greenfield Highway, and the Hansi-Barwala Highway expansion project.
• The Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway is expected to significantly reduce travel time, improve logistics efficiency, ease traffic congestion, and strengthen tourism, pilgrimage, and industrial connectivity across northern India.
• New healthcare facilities, including government medical colleges in Bhiwani and Narnaul, are expected to improve medical education, expand healthcare access, and increase specialist services across Haryana.
• The projects also include an elevated railway track at Kurukshetra and the foundation stone for a Sikh Museum, further enhancing urban infrastructure, cultural heritage, and regional development.
