• The Drafting Committee was established on 29 August 1947 under the chairmanship of Dr B R Ambedkar to prepare the final draft of the Constitution.
• The Drafting Committee originally had seven members including N Gopalaswamy Ayyangar, Alladi Krishnaswamy Ayyar, K M Munshi and Syed Mohammad Saadullah.
• Several minor committees such as the Finance and Staff Committee, House Committee and Credentials Committee handled administrative, financial and procedural aspects of the Assembly.
